Thank you to everyone that helped support our auction. The auction helped to raise over $700 which will be split among the Westbrook Food Pantry and the Animal Refuge League's pet food pantry.
“What Home Means to Me”—a collection of 15 works of art by Westbrook youngsters—was the theme of the first-ever Westbrook Housing benefit auction.
The framed pieces were the result of an art class project held in the spring. All of the works appeared in the Westbrook Housing annual report published earlier this year.
John Gallagher, Westbrook Housing's Executive Director, who came up with the idea to feature a “child’s view of home” in the agency’s annual publication, says he’s happy that the project can be utilized to further help the community. “At Westbrook Housing, our emphasis is affordable housing. The opportunity to extend our mission to help with the food needs in this community is exciting. Furthermore, we were so impressed with the artwork these young people produced, we’d like for it to get greater exposure.”
